CLARIN (Argentina)

TARTAGAL - The ambulance was traveling fast, its lights on and sirens blaring -- an emergency, for sure, in this northern Argentine city. But Salta provincial police, here near the Bolivian border, knew better.

They stopped the suspiciously speedy ambulance and discovered that the apparent emergency was actually an express delivery of 25 kilograms of cocaine, Clarin reported.

Police arrested the ambulance driver, as well as a nurse inside the ambulance and a man pretending to be a patient. Federal authorities are continuing the investigation, with raids at several locations, including at the Salvador Mazza Hospital, the owners of the rogue ambulance, Clarin reported.
