PARIS - Disgraced former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn and his wife, prominent French journalist Anne Sinclair, have split after 20 years of marriage, a source close to DSK has told Reuters.
The French edition of the weekly magazine Closer first reported the news in its online edition, adding that Sinclair, who currently runs the French version of the Huffington Post, and had publicly stood by her husband through the past year of humiliating accusations, had thrown Strauss-Kahn out of their home in central Paris.
Strauss-Kahn, known as DSK, and a former frontrunner for the French presidency, is currently enmeshed in a civil lawsuit filed by the New York hotel maid who accused him of sexual assault in May 2011. DSK was arrested and jailed for the incident, but prosecutors eventually dropped the charges for lack of evidence. He is also currently facing probes in France to establish whether he was involved in prostitution rings in northern France,
A few hours earlier, Closer had already made headlines by claiming that Frances former French First Lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy was pregnant again at the age of 44. Although Nicolas Sarkozys wife hasnt reacted to the report, her entourage has denied the news, the French weekly tabloid Voici reports.
